Water Tank Disinfectant – Safe Tank Water

WATER TANK DISPENSER

1. Remove dispenser from plastic pouch and unwind the anchor cord. To activate chlorine release, turn dispenser upside down and remove numbered tear off labels to expose the desired number of apertures.
2.  Dispenser does not float. Always tie off the retrieval cord to a secure anchor-point on the tank BEFORE releasing into water. ALWAYS position dispenser so it hangs directly below the incoming water flow (approx 10cm below water surface). For RAIN WATER tanks where water level can change significantly it may be necessary to extend line-length to ensure dispenser remains submerged even when water level is low. NOTE: There is only one plastic clip for tying off both dispensers. Reuse the clip for the 2nd dispenser.

WATER TESTING: Use the “NO PINK – NO DRINK” indicator kit provided. Treated tank water may take some time to show a chlorine residual at the tap. Only test for disinfectant residual 48-72hrs AFTER placing dispenser/s in the tank and after a reasonable amount of water has been replaced.

1. Run tap for 30-60seconds then fill BOTH chambers of the test tube provided.
2. Add a chlorine indicator-tablet into ONE chamber, then place a finger over both apertures to seal and shake until tablet is fully dissolved.
3. Wait 1min then view tube in good light to compare the colour-tint of the 2 chambers. Even a slight PINK tint in the test chamber indicates a positive chlorine residual.

TIP: If possible, it is useful to install a water sampling valve at the tank/resevoir exit point for testing. When testing, open this valve and let water run a few moments before sampling.
